THE PRACTICE FIELD LIST AND INSTRUCTIONS CAN BE FOUND UNDER THE LEFT MENU, "SIERRA REC DIVISION".

Once again GBYSL has arranged for U14 and below players to attend the game FREE.  You need to wear your jersey and show a GBYSL ID card, we will work on the cards for you.  NCAA rules are VERY strict and only the U14 and below player can attend at no charge, there is NO exceptions to the rule.  Parents, the University must enforce these rules.  We will also be hosting the halftime games, each game we will have several teams participating in a 5 minute scrimmage.

Good luck to one and all high school players, remember you represent Great Basin Youth Soccer League when you are on the field, act accordingly.  Every year we deal with players feeling like they get pressure from their high school coaches to play for them in the off season.  We have been talking with the NIAA and any player that feels they are being pressured to play should contact their High School Athletic Director, or the Vice Principal of Athletics for guidance.  If you feel you need additional information you may contact the league or contact the NIAA.  You can also contact Ken Cass at Washoe County School District at 775 333 5185 for additional information.  You have the choice to play for any team in the Spring, we have many very quailified high school coaches and we support both coaches and players to ensure a positive season for all  players.

August 16th-8AM-4PM New Grade 9/Recerts 2PM-6PM
August 17th-8AM-4PM Bridge 9 to 8/1PM-4PM Recerts

All referee classes will be held at Airport Plaza, across the street from Airport.  Coaches classes to be announced, watch for e mail and check website calendar.

AUGUST 13, 2008-Mandatory Sierra Recreational Division Coach Meeting.  Meeting will be held at 6pm at VAUGHN MIDDLE SCHOOL, in the library.  Vaughn is off Vassar St.

AUGUST 21, 2008-Mandatory Competitive Division Coach Meeting. Meeting will be held at 6pm at the South Valley Soccer fields picnic pavilion.  The pavilion is located between the lower and upper soccer fields.  Completed team packets will be returned to coaches.

SEPTEMBER 2, 2008-GBYSL competitive games begin.

SEPTEMBER 5, 2008-GBYSL Sierra Recreational games begin.

OCTOBER 11/12, 2008-Sagebrush Soccer Club Fall Friendship Tournament.

OCTOBER 25, 2008-LAST DAY OF GBYSL GAME SEASON.

Welcome to the new Great Basin Youth Soccer League website.  Please take a moment and visit all we have to offer.  GBYSL is the largest youth soccer league in Northern Nevada with a recreational and competitive division.  Our Sierra divison is recreational with ages starting at U5 through U14.  Our competitive division starts at U10 and runs through U19.  We focus on kids having fun while learning the great sport of soccer.  We recently had 2 teams compete in the USYSA Region IV finals, U15 Boys Twisters and U17 Girls Reno Black.  If you have any questions about your children playing, becoming a coach, referee or volunteer please e mail us.  Thank you and GO SOCCER

Reminder, all coaches, team officials and team representatives must complete their background check.  The schedule is on the state website.  www.usysnv.net.  If you are not scheduled until later this year don't worry about it until the month are are scheduled, if you are on the attached list please complete your background check.  Failure to do so will block your name from being entered as a coach for your team.  We have no control over this, the state is mandating the check along with Region IV and National.  The cost is $6 and is good for 2 years.  Teachers, law enforcements officers, public employees,  scout leaders, referee's and anyone else I might have forgotten are still requirred to complete the background check.  There are no are exclusions.
